“Baseball gives every American boy a chance to excel, not just to be as good as someone else but to be better than someone else. This is the nature of man and the name of the game.” - Ted Williams

And in honor of last week's rain out here is a 2nd quote.

“There are three things you can do in a baseball game. You can win, or you can lose, or it can rain.” - Casey Stengel

So we finally get a weekend ware we can ware shorts outside at night. It was a nice brake from the cold, but that hot summer August heat is quickly coming around the corner.

I got to the track right after the Legend Cars heats. And it did not take me long for the truck heats to come out. The heat winner was Keith Rocco. Next heat race was the Street Stock and first heat race winner was Chris Meyer. The 2nd heat race win went to Josh Galvin. Next up for heats was the SK Mods. And once more a very impressive heat win goes to Tom Abele Jr. The 2nd heat winner was Mark Bakaj. Then the 3rd heat race was full of drivers who strive to at lest get a top ten in the main feature, the winner was Frank Mucciacciaro Jr. I'm not saying they suck just saying. The last heat race was the Mini Stock's First heat race winner was Ray Christian III. 2nd was Charles Canfield. and the last heat race win went to Louie Bellisle.

So now it's time for the "All Star Event" And no I'm not talking about racing. It was time for the little guy's and the big guy's to hit that ball. That's right it's Baseball on the Speedway at the Speedbowl. Little League night went into full effect. As they were picking the kids I got my self some Ice-cream! And then I got my picture from Keith Rocco's Victory lane from 2 weeks ago. By the way if you did not know it looked like that was the hottest thing to get for pictures. The lady just left them out in the open everyone wanted one

So as I sat down the game began. Watching Soup on the track was cool even if he was just referring. :) Watching Sid living his dream of becoming the Number one pitcher for the Yankees as he threw like a girl  I'm joking with you Sid you did a good job. Some balls was hit over the fence it was funny watching kids run around to get them. The winner with 34 points (I think) was Diego Monahan but I don't know who the kid was but it still was a cool event.

The first race started with the Legend Cars. 20 cars started and it did not take long for one of them to flip for 3 times in the back stretch. Nick Ladyga flipped his Legend car about three times before it stopped on all four tires. Peter Cirilli spun out for a caution. But then after that it was clear water for race winner Tony Flannery as he beat Jason Palmer who finished 2nd. 3rd was George Whitney, So is the Bowl still going to turn a blind eye with a 20 strong car field and still not give them the 5 extra laps they deserved? Guess they will.

Next up was the exciting and action filled Trucks. Wait no I'm sorry I was thinking of the NASCAR Trucks I see on Speed TV. Up next was the Trucks and with by far the lowest field I have seen yet 7 trucks started. Three things happened in this race. 1.) Allen Coates took the lead and was never tested for the lead. 2.) The battle for 2nd with Keith Rocco and Howard Payne. 3.) Harold Burdick spinning out on the front stretch and being a trooper he spun his truck around and kept on trucking  The winner was Allen Coates 2nd was Keith Rocco and 3rd was Howard Payne.

Next up was the Street Stocks 16 cars. The race was full of guys who could lead but it came down to one man who would pull it off avoiding the spin that took out Nate Appell. For his first time Chris Meyer won the race. 2nd was Josh Galvin and 3rd was Ronnie Oldham.

Next was the main event the SK Mod’s 21 Mod’s started. Mark Bakaj took the lead and held the lead for a long time before Ron Yuhas took the lead. Jeffrey Paul and Dennis Charette was up in the top five in till they fainted back. All eyes was on Keith Rocco as he started 11th and it did not take him long to get up to the top. He cleared Ron Yuhas and now it was a test of Will Power and Patients as caution after caution came out for spin outs and the big crash that turned out the Red flag. I did not really see who got in the big one but I know Justin Gaydosh and Joe Gada got into it. When it all came down the Winner was Keith Rocco 2nd was Ron Yuhas Jr and 3rd was Tyler Chadwick.

I Went to get into the picture in victory lane with Keith Rocco so I missed the start of the Mini Stock race 23 Started. :D This race was filled with a lot of crashing and a lot of spin outs. Ray Christian III engine caught on fire and ended his night. Doug Curry ran into the tire wall in turn 4. After caution and caution the battle for the lead came down to Ken Cassidy Jr and Danny Field. To me it looked like Danny was going for the lead but did not have Cassidy cleared and Danny spun around ending his chances to win. The Winner was Ken Cassidy Jr 2nd was Glen Colvin and 3rd was Sean Caron.

That's all for this week, next week is WNWW and Show and Go, and Saturday the Allison Legacy North Series comes to Waterford "SK Mod's (35), LM (30), SS (25), MS (25), ALS (25)" For people who are going to Stafford this Friday. This Is what you have to look forward to ", SK Modified® (40),Late Model (30), SK Light (20), Ltd. Late Model (20), DARE Stock (15)" And Thompson start up this week with Sunoco Modifieds (30) Super Late Models (30) Late Models (25) TIS Mod’s (20) LS (20) MS (15)

 Keep Cool. :D

Greg Sr didn't hit the widowmaker, Doug Curry did. I have no clue how you mixed those cars up. One is BRIGHT blue with pink and white decals, the other is silver with orange and black......

Also, why are you talking so much crap about the mod drivers in the third heat? I'd like to see you go out there and do better.

Thanks for telling me Matt that it was Doug Curry sorry that I got it mixed up. But you have to know I write this review 24 hours after the event. I can't remember every detail to the bone. I have a life to focus on other then to remember every detail that I seen last night.

You must not know me or been reading my other weekly reviews as I talk a lot of crap about Late Models and Trucks. The SK Mods, Street's, Mini and Legends are no different. Also did you not read this part in the review "I'm not saying they suck just saying" you must have skipped it.

But heck let's take a look at how the guys in the 3rd heat all are doing this year right?

Frank Mucciacciaro Jr: Highest finish this year 11th (May 1st). Avg finish this year 19.6 (6 races)
Mike Finkeldey: Highest finish this year 4th (Apr 10th). Avg finish this year 10.8 (6 races)
Glenn Pressel III: Highest finish this year 6th (Apr 10th). Avg finish this year 11.6 (6 races)
Glenn Griswold: Highest finish this year 11th (May 15th). Avg finish this year 11 (1 race)
Adam Gada: Highest finish this year 7th (Apr 10th). Avg finish this year 13.5 (4 races)
Shawn Solomito: Highest finish this year 7th (Mar 28th). Avg finish this year 15.6 (5 races)

Hope this helps you see what I was talking about Matt.

Not that I want to get into this, but average finishes can be missleading when/if you consider amount of races run and amount of races where mechanical issues prevented a good finish.

If you run 1 race and you finish 15th, that is hardly an average and would not be a proper reflection of you or your team's ability.

Averages mean nothing other than that. Some teams just dont have the stats to prove they are competitive for a multitude of reasons. Kind of like running top 5 in several races all season only to have mechanical issues like a flat tire, blown motor, trani, overheating, etc. causing you a DNF in each of them. Really hurts your average. Means nothing that you have an average of 23rd finishing position except that it was your average finish.

The comment..."Then the 3rd heat race was full of drivers who strive to at lest get a top ten in the main feature" ...however glossed over afterwards with... "I'm not saying they suck just saying." ...seemed to be an uncalled for slam towards all of them.

Well If I hurt the drivers or the teams who were in that race. Then I'll be man enough to say I am sorry. I know everyone can not be top contender but just being out their they have my respect.

That's BS that they have your respect. If you hadn't been called out on it you woulda continued to slam on them.

I can't stand people that slam on others for not doing well at local tracks. I mean, I can see complaining about car counts, but not driver ability. Sure some of them aren't all that great, but at the moment, they're better than you and I.

Alls i got to say is without the 3rd heat cars in question there would only be 14 cars instead of 21. While they may not have driving ability of a Ronnie U or the powerhouse car of a keith rocco they are out there havin fun and puttin on a race for us all to enjoy. I give em all a big thumbs up for givin it all they can every week.

As for average finishes just take a look at Todd Ceravolos average for the year and you will see averages mean nothing when it comes to judgeing a driver. He is fast and sure as hell knows how to wheel a racecar. just hasnt got the finishes to show it yet this year.

Had to deposit my 2 cents worth......

I can't fathom how I'm being the child when I'm voicing my opinion.
