I understand your point about the computer programing but the cars at the track are not using computers. The point is it is harder to pick up the knowledge and desire when it isn't attached to something you use everyday. In the old days you tweeked on your street car and the race car. Now they are very much different. Maybe in a few years they will be closer again with injection and computers (other than traction control :o ).

And F&R, it will be interesting to see how the whole fuel injection thing works out. On the top tiers like cup, natwide and truckers they should have the technology to keep everyone on the up & up but as the tech staff budgets drop that could favor the racers with $$$$$ to find advantages!!!

Oh I agree 100%. As I said in the post above, I'm personally a fan of carbs over fuel injection.

Traction control would be an easy thing to police as well, just ask the driver to do a burnout, and if the car spins and then stops and bogs down, it's got trac/ctrl.

I just hope carbs will still be around in some form.

Fuel Injection is in racing at the local level already. After looking at the Pro-4 engine requirements, the engines are 2300cc Ford 4-cylinders. It specifies the use of OEM parts or a stock factory engine, so fuel injection is legal and has been run on them. Also, the 2300cc engines are factory for 2.0 liter Mustangs too. So converting from carbs to FI would not be out of the questions or the mini stock. Some minis around NE could be running FI already. And if im not mistaken.... there was at least one mozda, fuel injected NEMA midget running this year :?: :?: But im not 100% positive on that one.

Fuel Injection is here, whether its good or bad.

So, what color do you think the new walls will be? I have a hunch they'll still be white, but wouldn't it be cool to paint em up red and white like a lot of tracks from years gone by used to be?

I just replyed to ya on the facebook page.... but the walls were painted like that back in the day because of NASCAR's deal with RJ Reynolds/Winston... NASCAR would send drums of red and white paint to paint up everything to look like the old Winston cigarette packs... buildings, walls... etc

Hell, Bowman Gray still has the red and white walls, might as well paint ours up just for nostaligia's sake, haha.

Never knew that bit before, it makes sense.

hey, for what it's worth, this board's getting a lil' too "quote"-button-happy. Do you really need to quote the person who posted right before you?? Do we need to see the same sweet old school pic over and over just to read 2 sentences of something new??? Yeah, I'm bored and over-anxious for the season to start, but there's nothing worse than a cluttered thread of repetition...

On a more positive note - I was at the track both Sat and Sunday and the upgrades are nice to see! The bowl staff seem to be crankin' like crazy to get a ton done!

See ya Saturday
