It's a risk you have to take.

Plus, the infield was gonna be a swamp, which means T1 was most likely going to be weeping. We all know how that ended last time...

Plus, if they ran, the stands may have been empty and the track would take a bath...better to have the track cancell and not lose any more money so that it can be around for a while.

I was down at the bowl today for the SXR race. There was still standing water in 3 and 4. That usually drains better than 1 and 2. Paul, it doesn't matter that the storm didn't seem long to you, it doesn't matter that the sun popped out after either.... what matters is the condition of the track, the expected low crowd due to the weather(including the high winds after the storm), the fact that there had been lightning strikes all over the area, and the weather pattern was still potentially unstable. I support the bowl, and I support their decision as much as I wanted to run, but it did save me having to load up tools and race car in the rain.
