Mark at the Waterford Speedbowl pointed me to this forum and if anyone here can help, please post a reply!

My son is 18 years old and has been racing for about 3 years - all of it on road courses like Lime Rock, Watkins Glenn, NJMP, etc. He started with Skip Barber, then moved to SCCA / NASA and is now racing in a select number of Grand Am events. He has expressed interest in having an opportunity to test out his driving skills on an oval track and I was interested to see if any "arrive & drive" type programs are available here in CT.

Ideally I would like to schedule a test day on the track to see how he likes it and then potentially run a few races before we jump in and look to buy a car. Not sure what the pricing might be but if cars are available for rent (with full track support) I'm interested in learning more! I'm thinking that the Legends would be the best place for him to start, but I'm open to other classes if a car is available.

Thanks,

Gene

as far as I know, nothing like that exists at the Speedbowl... at least not a ride n drive type deal... the only thing I know of around the CT area is Smokey's racing out of Stafford Motor Speedway... I believe they run a dare stock rent-a-ride type deal... visit Stafford Motor Speedways website and go to the teams page for possible information

Doesn't some guy from MA run something at Thompson International Speedway? I think some guy is a former race that sells cars in MA and I can't remember his name.

I'm sure if you talked to some legends guys you could work something out with a set fee and a cashiers check for damages incase something happens.

There was a SK at the bowl last year that was for rent.

Thanks for the info guys. My son and I are going to try and catch one of the Wed night races and see if we can meet a few people running in the Legends class to get more information about the series.
