Alessio and Zaikarite join Dimatteo, Forte as Champions in series' 11th
season

Waterford, CT (September 22, 2011) – Waterford Speedbowl concluded its
mid-week Wild ‘n Wacky Wednesday series this week, ending an 18-event
stretch. A week ago Wednesday Dana Dimatteo of Farmington and Rachel
Forte of Douglas, MA wrapped up the Legends Cars and Bandolero division
championships respectively. This week, championships were settled in the
Super X-Car and X-Car divisions. Pete Zaikarite of Niantic overcame
adversity in the final race of the year to come out on top in the X-Car
standings. Frank Alessio of Colchester won the Super X-Car title, making
it a clean sweep of first-time champions across all four Wednesday series
divisions.

Alessio finished second in the final Super X-Car race of the season,
seemingly finishing second in the standings to Mike Maskell as the field
took the checkered flag. Maskell’s engine failed technical inspection
after the race however, eliminating his points tally from the final event.
That boosted Alessio and Ed Ryan ahead of Maskell in the official final
standings. Alessio’s season was full of highs and lows ending with three
wins, nine top-five and 14 top-ten finishes, enough for the title.

Zaikarite was one of three drivers with a legitimate shot at the X-Car
division title headed into the final race. He persevered through a flat
tire, benefitted by a timely caution flag to stay on the lead lap to make
repairs, then stayed focused over the remainder of the race to keep his
car unscathed and in position to take the championship over Brad
Voglesong. Zaikarite completed his fifth season behind the wheel by
grabbing three wins, 12 top-five and 16 top-ten finishes, good enough to
earn him top honors.

Dimatteo won five races to take the Legends Cars. He came out on top in a
several week battle with Dave Garbo Jr. in what became a steadfast
rivalry. The 16 year-old high school student also rebounded from a broken
arm suffered in a race on August 20 at the track. Dimatteo posted 12
top-five finishes and 16 top-ten finishes during the Wednesday season.

Forte became the second consecutive female to take the Bandolero title
joining Taylor Martin, runner-up finisher in this year’s standings, atop
the division for consecutive years. Forte had two wins on her season,
adding 12 top-five and 15 top-ten finishes during the Wild ‘n Wacky
series. The Bandolero division completed just its third season at the
track.
