Has anyone seen the new show called Madhouse. It is on Sunday nites on the History channel. It features the modifieds at Bowman Gray speedway in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. This track was the first Nascar sactioned track and has alot of history behind it. I found it quite amusing watching the good ol' boys mixin it up down south, I'm sure ya'll will enjoy it too!!

I have watched the 1st two episodes. They show very little actual racing. It seems to be centered on all the behind the scenes stuff. Mostly the fued between Junior Miller and Burt Myers.

That is true, it reminds me of the funk master race, not alot of racing footage, just alot of BS. but i guess that is what the world of reality tv is all about...

I'll try to remember to ask Super Dave & the Farmer if we got a copy somewhere.

I gotta say, I'm absolutely stunned how many people in our racing community don't like Madhouse! I think it's awesome! I mean, all reality TV is pretty campy and most are guilty pleasures, this one no exception in my book. Yeah, Myers and Junior rivalry is pretty over the top, and Myers would have been banned for life if he pulled that stunt at the end of last year against Junior at the Speedbowl, but that's Bowman Gray... and prolly why the joint has packed grandstands every week.

Some peeps have told me they thought it was going to be more historical about Mod racing since it was on the History Channel, but I didn't expect that myself... I thought it'd be a reality TV version of the youtube clips I've been seeing of the place for years... it's entertaining, it's TV.... anyone who thought it was going to be some "realistic" account of short-track racing in general was missing the boat from the git-go! With all the ridiculuous subjects/themes that are made into TV shows (how many times do we need to see Flavor Flav pick slobs outta a lineup!), I'm glad that Modified racing is getting some weekly airtime on a national station - that in itself is a good thing for our sport!

But hey, if ya don't like it, you can always buy a Video Vault DVD - maybe that'd me more towards your liking....

From sources near the track(aka my cousins), the rivalry on the show isn't blown out of proportion at all, that's really how it is at the track.

If you're gonna come here just to badmouth the Bowl, please leave.

On Wednesday night's there's a good 1-2k people at the place. Haven't been to a Saturday show in ages, so I cannot comment on that, but I imagine there's more people on Saturday's than Wednesday's.
