The Speedbowl has had MANY improvements through the years. I can remember working on the 96(which was very fast) in the main pits with rocks in our backs & no lighting to speak of. Yes I believe the racing was better then too, just look through the old Speedbowl books and see the crowds in the stands, always full. Some nights we went home looking like Pigpen from Peanuts cartoon. I must say the place is nicer now and its to bad they just cant get the crowds anymore, maybe its the economy, just not sure...Maybe they should all get together and do another Tri-Track series so everyone can run all tracks with the same cars like we had in the late 80's...We made the move to Thompson this year because we didn't want to spend every Saturday night at the track, and I do have to say everything goes much faster up there, they don't jerk around! We had so much fun and Art III almost pulled off a win, had a good year. i hope they can turn things around at Waterford.

Ocean Beach was always full to capacity in those days too. There wasn't much competition for the entertainment dollar in those days. One maybe two or three channels on tv, no computers, cell phones, internet, casinos, etc!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yup sure was different back then, Economy was better which means peeps had more money to spend and we had less choices or what to do on a sat night and the product was better. The BS was still there but you had consi races in almost every division and guys even went home cause they didnt make the show. And after the races were over everyone gathered in the parking lot and just had a good old time. Cant do that anymore and that hurts em as well. Now people have so many other things to do they just dont go because to them it is not worth it. Staffords weekly crowds are down as well but it is not as signifancant and they have the cars so thats a big bonus in they're favor. Same for thompson weekly crowds down but not as bad because peeps can go in sit down watch the show and poof just like that your home. Plus both tracks have TC...say what you want but he sells tickets. I cant stand him but he sure is fun to watch.

What bugs me the most is the bowl offers the best over all racing, but the cars just wont go and race there. If the bowl had staffords counts the place would be rockin every sat night. Just isnt happening.
Im with the majority that just hope someone fixes it before its too late. All the physical upgrades and still empty grandstands just isnt a good sign. Gotta commend the effort though

that is due to a township/police rule about everyone leaving the parking lot one hour after the last checkered.

Here are some changes the bowl could use to get more peeps and more car counts.

If your going to charge extra for NEMA's then make the laps longer. It seemed to work out when they have that 30 or 35 Lap race. they had a lot of NEMA cars show up.

That last outlaw race at the end of the year was fun. To see Late Models and Trucks go head to head was fun. I think it's time to make more Truck and Late Model Outlaw Race's. It's starting to look like both divisions will be lacking in car counts next year. If they combine both division's in one race I'm sure it wont be boring.

Every other week or once a month give one division a long distance race. For a regular ticket price. Nothing big, like SK's can go 50 Laps or SS or MS can go 35 or 40 Laps.

Revers the race one night. Instead of going left turn right!

For the Finally make sure all the races for Sat and Sun are for points.

Separate big ticket price races from each other. 3 weeks of ticket price being over 25$ is heavy on the peeps.

Well that's my 2 Cents for ideas. Agree or disagree that's cool.
-----------------------------------------

When The race is over I want to get the heck out of the parking lot as fast as I can. I found my hidden escape that gets me out in under 5 minuets even parking all the way in the back. But I would never want to talk to anyone after the event. You have a lot of drunk people leaving and one word can start a fight. No thank you, that scene is not for me. I rather talk to the drivers before the event and a quick goodbye at the end.

Anyone think the scaled down MRS form 3 last year to two this year and no ACT race looks a little sad?

I thought a MRS race on a regular Bowl night draws a lot of peeps. Just the amount to cover the whole night.

And Sure the ACT has been weak for the past 3 years but why get rid of them all together they do have a feeder series that is much cheaper but keeps the same car count. I don't see our ACT bowl cars making a 100 lap race vary fun with only 8 or 12 cars racing.

I heard a rummer from one of my friends that RoC could make a start at the Bowl. I think that's a straight up lie.

Anyone ease fine it disappointing that the 2nd ISMA race will have not as many cars as it should have? They stop at Lee Friday and then come on down to the Bowl for WnW Saturday.

No Mod Tour at the Bowl this year. Oh well theirs always next year. I'm not surprised since I know how much just one race cost.

I don't mind the LC but when you have one guy winning every week. That's when the track has to step in. Have the last weeks winner start dead last. Like they did with the trucks 2 years ago.

I think the bonus 5 points was cute but I think it's time to get rid of them. This is not the Sprint Cup ware they need to find a way to change the point system every 2 years. this is the Speedbowl some things just need to stay the same.

I thought the number of peeps in the stands was more in average then in the past few years. Even when a big rain storm came out of no ware and then the fans came after it rained even if the track was soaked. I also thought the SK's were up keeping over the 20 car limit for a very long time.

Well that's my 2 Cents on ranting and thinking. Agree or disagree that's cool.

P.S. Come here to this web site Jan 2 for very in-portent news about the "Return of the NASCAR Fantasy Sprint Cup" and the "A slight 50/50 might come back 2011 Pick-em contest."

NEMA's suck, get rid of them.

The 5 bonus points was brilliant, I dunno what you're talking about. The more distance you can put points wise between first and second the better, people will race for a win more instead of lounging around.

Flannery is in a Late Model now, so there will be different winners int he Legends next year as well.

I'm checking the north east tour web sites and I double checked the MRS 2011 schedule and the WnW race was taken off. Just leaving one date at the start of the year. In fact the 18 races they had on the schedule is now down to 16. Stafford and Thompson 2 dates are still on it. So I wonder what other track was taken off? What could be going on? Hmmmmmm :?:

The reason for the lost MRS date and the reason the 2011 schedule isn't out yet is because of an MRS schedule conflict for both them and Seekonk that has affected our schedule in a major way, the race will be added once all the touring series can align. And so we don't post a schedule any TBA's, the schedule release has to be pushed back until a resolution happens.
Also, ACT choose not to return in 2011 because they felt it was too much travel for their base teams during the season, not us choosing to not have them back.

Happy New Year.

Thanks Scott. That was indeed helpful news. For shame on ACT, that just gave me less respect for them. Not that there was any left with how they restart cars behind lap down cars. Stupid rule, Anyway I'm sure You guys at the Bowl will get things straightened out. Thanks for the info.
Speed Bowl FTW. :D

No you shouldn't lose any respect for ACT, they certainly struggled to get their teams to travel and made a move to help their business in a tough economy, can't blame them. They provide the best Late Model touring series in the country, in my opinion and I will always be an ACT fan.
