maybe there wasn't going to be enough cars and that the grandstands were going to be empty

maybe run rain or shine, but will anyone come to watch? remember sailfest is also this weekend pulling fans away from the track.

Speedbowl Cancels July 10 race program

Waterford, CT (July 10, 2010) – Waterford Speedbowl has cancelled Saturday's scheduled Old School Enduro racing program due to weather. The make up date for this event will be announced at a later date.


The next event for the Speedbowl will be Wednesday, July 14's Wild 'n Wacky Wednesday racing program, featuring free youth admission and adult admission of just $7. Spectator gates open at 5:30pm, and racing gets underway at 7:00pm.


Next Saturday, July 17 will see NASCAR Whelen All-American Series racing return to the shoreline oval for a five-division program.

HaHa how bout that rain out? Not complainin nor whining i just find a rather funny. Can the bowl say oooooops. I wonder why they didnt run it today? Pretty nice day but then again was pretty nice last night to....... Gotta luv it

I think it was a good call. With the threat of rain and with the fireworks they would not have many people show up. True they should start thinking in the future to have some rained out events for Sundays. That is a thing to think about.

Don't understand what is so funny to you. Let's see.... it did rain all over. We had rain in Preston. it was spot showers all over. who's to say it wouldn't rain hard at some point at the Bowl. They didn't run it today because there was an SXR event scheduled.... and why have fans and drivers commit to 2 days for an event "just in case". I think they made the right call. I'm sorry, but I'm not the type of person to laugh at others' misfortune.... especially a business I sincerely want to see around for a long time to come.



really? where does it say that? Do you have a rule book of Enduro's that I'm not familiar with? I went to many enduro's in the early 90's. I honestly can't remember a single one being run in the rain, and I ran 2 of them. Let's put cars on the track in the rain, with no windshield wipers to run a race in front of 20 soaking wet fans that will be miserable and say what a bad time they had and how the bowl should have just cancelled. After all that, let's pay out $1,000 to each division to win. Oh yeah, and tell Luke Duke he still has to do his motorcycle show in the rain, because there may be some fans that come just to see him(or they will say they did if they don't get to see him... "I paid to get in and didn't see my favorite part of the show...blah, blah, blah"), and I'm sure a burnout contest in the rain would be fun.... yeah right.

So, let's just chalk it up to a good call by the speedbowl(whether it actually rained there or not), and look forward to the next one. Maybe now all the people who said they were going to build a car, but didn't have enough time.....now will have enough time and no excuses..... like a certain Volvo driver I heard of.

I remember Riverside runnin them in the rain, way back, so I thought it was common practice.

No car for me still, at least until I can get a new job. They cut my hours way back so I'll have zero extra money.
