Waterford Speedbowl 5/27 Memorial Day Madness Results

Waterford, CT (May 27, 2012) – Waterford Speedbowl put thrills on the
track Sunday evening with its annual Memorial Day Madness event. A large
turnout witnessed all the smashing and bashing promised as the shoreline
oval hosted a demolition derby, Trailer Race, Ski Car race, extreme
motorcycle stunt man Luke Emmons and more. One of the region’s first
aerial fireworks displays capped the evening of on-track sparks and
fireworks. The event was presented by WCTY radio.

Chris Logan of Middletown was the popular winner in the wild Speedbowl
Trailer Race. He demolished the field to remain as the lone competitor
with their tow vehicle intact. Logan did so in memorable fashion,
finishing off Tom Wambolt of Meriden, his final adversary, with a hard
blow to the trailer. Logan actually flipped his vehicle onto its side in
the process, to the delight of the fans. When the dust settled Logan’s
trailer remained attached, while Wambolt’s was ripped away.

In the night’s demolition derby, crafty veteran Ron Dimauro of Plymouth
took the win. He delivered plenty of richter-scale registering hits on
the field in his Chevrolet.

Mastering the art of the “Ski Car” race was none other than Eric Macey of
Manchester. Macey traded the rear wheels on his Saturn in for a pair of
“skis” mounted to the rear wheels. He then skidded and pirouetted around
the track the best of the competition to take the win in a 10-lap race
that featured no shortage of spins and mayhem.

Ken Downing III of Branford and Mark Cooper of Northford took turns at
“speedway bowling”, using their cars as battering rams to 55-gallon drums
set up as “pins” on the Speedbowl frontstretch.

Plainfield native Luke “Duke” Emmons wowed fans with an array of stunts
atop his two-wheeled machine, culminating in a smoke show that blew his
rear tire, to the roar of the crowd.

Waterford Speedbowl returns to action three times over the upcoming week,
beginning with Wild ‘n Wacky Wednesday. ‘Sho & Go at the ‘Bowl’ returns
on Friday before NASCAR racing takes over on Saturday with Four Cylinder
Fury. Details for the upcoming events are available on Speedbowl.com
