It was a cold night at the Bowl but it was also a good night. If JP.com is telling the truth Thompson only had 12 Mod's? ouch....

In-less the numbers in the Bandoleros start to grow they need to stay on the Wednesday schedule. IMO

The Late Models Look impressive this year. Looking forward for a full season.

The Legends Cars was fun and a must see every week. With a Plus 20 this week it's looking good for the rest of the season.

Street Stocks car count raised this week. That's good to see.

SK's had the same number as last week I think but hey. It could be worse, we could have the numbers of Thompson. It's just the players who are missing to fill up the chess bored. Shawn Solomito, Mark Bakaj, Todd Ceravolo, Adam Gada, Wendell Dailey and Jeffrey Paul. Some just don't have the money. Some are taking some time off and some are switching tracks. We will just have to wait in till it get's warmer.

Mini Stocks are still awesome.

The numbers were up that's always a plus. But the crowed was down. I'm sure when it gets warmer more peeps will show up.

This is nothing unexpected from Thompson with the low car counts they had the same issues last year other then in the Sportsman and Ministock fields. It seems that local racing goes through an evolution where one track does really good and another struggles i think the only track in CT that has had a consistently good car count for as long as i can remember is Stafford, but i am glad to see the speedbowl is starting to get their name on the board in that area. it is really nice to see the late model field growing as well.

We caught some of the SK race and Mini Stock finish on a lil' camcorder while my usual crew was up at Thompson. Had enough for a short clip for this week:

I don't know where that number came from, over 30 started behind the Bobby Santos III!

I was talking about the Sunoco Modifieds. 12 started Saturday and 14 today. The Mod tour does not count.

Another good night of racing overall even with the colder temps.

Only one thing bothered me all night, it's been an unwritten rule that if the flagman makes a mistake with the lights or the flag the caution will come out and the field will get reset.

I'm really happy to see Phil win the minstock feature but the last restart should have had the caution thrown in the backstretch. When the leader restarted the flagman put the caution lights on instead of the green and corrected his mistake after a second or two. I saw Colvin drop like a rock through the field after not going on the restart. I hope this wasn't an issue of him not going because the caution was out and he did the right thing, then expected the track to do the right thing.

it's a 14ish point swing for a guy that figures to be in the championship hunt the way he is running.

Even if GC broke the track still needs to do the right thing when a mistake is made and throw the yellow for real, who knows how many drivers in the field also lifted because of this.

That is the second time that has happened this year. Everyone noticed it but the officials? In all fairness to Rich, it's the assistant starter/flagman that switches the lights. Not sure who that was. That start should have been called back.
I also heard about a bad radio call in the legends race that should have resulted in a caution being thrown.

I understand how hard the job can be. I have been in the spotters towers, the flagstand and just about everywhere but the handicappers booth. Mistakes will be made. Correcting those mistakes when they happen is what needs to be addressed.

Well said Steve, I agree. I don't care if a mistake is made, how it's handled to make it right is what really matters.
