Ok Nascar announces that at 15 yrs old you can race a tour mod. Ok good for the kiddos no big deal right? Well how come in the latest speedbowl.com update posted on feb 23rd it states clearly that you must be 16 to compete in a sk modified? How can somebody be allowed to race at NHIS in TOUR mod but can not drive at the bowl in a less expensive, lower horsepowered car that is pretty much a learning curve car for the higher powered Tour cars? I dont know but it dont make any sense to me. In no way am i sayin 1 is right and 1 is wrong, but if nascar says 15 is ok for a premier touring series, should't 15 be old enough to race an SK at a local track as well? I just find that a bit backside backwards.

I dont know the answer, but I will speculate it may be a state of CT rule? Wall Stadium was 18 year old's back in the day because of NJ.

I don't like this whole "young kids in big power cars" thing. But that's for another day.

I DO like the new Saturday Night Showdown points structuring though.

Shouldn't give two points from tenth back though, just stop at tenth.

I suppose it could be a CT thing but does that mean when the tour goes to stafford and thompson the 15 yr olds have to sit out? Thats 1/2 the schedule...... Maybe some others on here can shed some light on what i find to be a bit on the goofy side..... :? Being able to drive practicaly every race car there is except for the one designed for new drivers just seems a bit wacky...... Staffords age is 16 as well but i couldnt seem to find thompsons age criteria.

NASCAR says anyone age 14 or older can compete in the Whelen All-American series... the individual tracks can then set their requirements at that or age or a higher age. It is on the sole discretion of the individual tracks. I know Thompson does not allow anyone under 16 to race in any of their weekly divisions. Stafford has the following rules for age in place 14 year olds can race in Dare Stocks, 15 year olds can race in the limited late models and SK Lights and you must be 16 to race in either the SK Modified or Late Model divisions. It is like a state law and a government law the government law is the minimum the state law has to be if the state decides to change the law any they must increase the law.

Not completely true, you can run at Thompson in a Thompson Mod at 15

That is correct ftc756racing; it is the sole discretion of the individual NASCAR tracks. This applies to only Waterford Speedbowl NWAAS Series Divisions and has no relevance to NASCAR Touring or Regional Series' and also no relevance to other CT tracks. I hope that helps some things make sense.

make sense? not really but i understand it a lil better now. makes perfect sense for last year but you would think it would be changed but i guess its a ct thing so im not suprised at all. what ever the reason i just cant make any logical sense from this. Mod tour north and south 15...sk light 15, sk mod 16? k&m series 15 but weekly late model 16? Its just weird that a 15 yrd old can show up at stafford race 200 laps in a tour mod but is not allowed to race 40 laps in a sk mod.....  Is what it is but the math dont add up IMO.

anyway though only 1 more month to go and gentlemen start your engines. Blast Off is on the horizon

KJAM21 that must be a new rule at thompson then for 2011 because i know in 2010 you had to be 16 to even enter the paddock area at thompson... so im not really sure how you could race a division there at 15 but have to be 16 to enter the paddock. Not trying to argue or debate anything just stating the sign i saw last year at the Pit Sign In window at Thompson.
Although i also wouldnt put it past Thompson to have lowered the age but "forget" to take the signs down...

Not a new rule for 2011 nor 2010, Ryan Morgan ran a TIS mod last year and I believe he was 15.
