23 Weeks down 2 more to go. This Saturday the most close battle for first is the Street Stocks, Walter Hovey Jr. with 1005 Points and Al Stone III with 992 Points. In order for Walter Hovey JR. to win the Street Stock Championship He has to finish no worse the 4th. If Al Stone wins the race.

With the average of 13 cars all year long for the Late Models I'm going to say that Tim Jordan Is safe to win the Bob Valenti Auto Mall Late Models Championship. Unless a full car field shows up, And Tim finishes last and Jeff Smith wins I don't see that happening.

The same thing could be said about the Trucks with a average field of 10 Trucks all year long It is safe to say that Allen Coates will win the A.B. CDL Training Center Truck Championship.

So to all the winners and Champions this is for you.

Congratulations to Anthony Flannery for winning the Wednesday/Saturday Legends Championship.

Congratulations to Ken Cassidy Jr. for winning the Norwich Bulletin Mini Stocks Championship.

Congratulations to Keith Rocco for winning the SK Modifieds Championship.

Congratulations to Charles Beal for winning the Super-x Championship.

Congratulations to Dan D'addario for winning the X-CARS Championship.

Congratulations to Taylor Martin for winning the Bandolero Championship.

Congratulations to Richard Brouwer for winning the X-Mods Championship.

Congratulations to Kathy Civardi for winning the WOW-4 Championship.

Congratulations to Kristie Hamel for winning the WOW-8 Championship.

Now for October 8th -10th. This is by far the event I'm looking forward to. Wings and Wheels move out of the way. Friday Patrice a day that I can go into the pit's and talk to the drivers get some pictures and have some fun. It was 10$ but now the push the price to 15$. Still sounds good to me. I'll go If I have no work.

Saturday 30$ for Saturday and Sunday. Saturday nick name should be called "Pole Day" SK's and ACT will take center stage for we can all find out who will start up front for Sunday. The TK, SX, XC, ALNRS, LC, SS will do heat races along side of some features on Saturdays busy schedule. The Mini Stocks.

What happened to the Mini Stock 50 Lap race? In the past few days it went from "Sunday Fantastic 400 Laps" to 375 Laps. The LC will Run on Sunday and Mini Stock will run on Saturday. Okay that's fine. But now they go from 50 to 25 laps and the bowl adds on a Outlaw Race. Dose anyone see a problem here? I'm looking at this as a fan and this upsets me. taking away a 50 lap race and adding on a outlaw race that no one will show up for. Why will no one show up? I'm guessing that it was just posted on the schedule page and that it's only two weeks away. Did anyone forget at the beginning of the year they tried to have a Outlaw Race? But only 2 cars showed up?

Why change anything at all? The hole thing looked grate now they downgrade It, It looks like a mess. Why downgrade the Mini Stocks they always have a strong field. Why not the Street Stocks? This is what ticks off a lot of bowl fans. The schedule is redone a week or two before the event. We can only hope that this is worked out in 2011. A confirmed schedule without add-on replacements and no TBA a week or two away from the time schedule date. Might call the Bowl tomorrow and just see what is going on.

Now back on topic On Sunday we have the ACT 150. I really hope this race can take the bad taste out of my mouth since the last 2 Trips they came to the bowl. I'm happy that they will have their last point race here at the grate Waterford Speedbowl. Brian Hoar will defend the point lead over Joey Polewarczyk, Jr. And Brent Dragon. Also on hand is the SK 150 This should be a grate event the only thing I'm worried about is car count. A Little bird told me since it is not a point race that not many teams will show up. This could the opposite but time will only tell.

What you think I'm done? Nope.

I wanted to see what it would be like for the top five in points, If the 5 Bonus points was never introduced for this year. What would the last and final weekend point battle look like?. Here are the results without the 5 bonus points for the SK, LM, SS and MS

SK Modifieds
1.) Keith Rocco ---- 1026
2.) Ron Yuhas Jr. --- 1010 -16
3.) Rob Janovic Jr. -- 902 -124
4.) Tyler Chadwick -- 850 -174
5.) Jeffrey Paul --- 812 -214

Late Models
1.) Tim Jordan ---------- 648
2.) Jeff Smith ----------- 610 -38
3.) Vin Esposito --------- 582 -66
4.) Ernie Bertrand ------- 572 -77
5.) Richard Staskowski -- 566 -82

Street Stocks
1.) Walter Hovey Jr. -- 990
2.) Al Stone III ------- 962 -28
3.) Ed Puleo ---------- 870 -120
4.) Brandon Plemons -- 866 -124
5.) Norm Sears ------- 860 -130

Mini stocks
1.) Ken Cassidy Jr. ---- 946
2.) Danny Field -------- 886 -60
3.) Sean Caron -------- 880 -66
4.) Louie Bellisle III ---- 794 -152
5.) Chris Williams ------ 804 -140

All points and math was with the help of the WaterfordSpeedbowl.com and the "Vault Report" If you have not gotten one for the race weekend then your missing out on something grate. P.S. Don't forget to vote for your favorite driver.

One more thing. Yeah that's right I'm still not done.

Sid if you are still reading this I have one question and you might have answered this before but I forgot. Will you be doing a 3rd Documentary DVD for this Speedbowl Fall Finally? If so what divisions will you be covering? SK, SS, MS, LC, ACT? Or will you stick with Posting YouTube videos. By the way did you know that I love them? :D Thank you for you hard work. Thank you Sid's crew for all the hard work you put into the YouTube videos this year.

Well I hope you enjoyed this little rant slash update kind of thing. I've enjoyed going to the bowl this year, I hope you did to. Okay I'm done now, does anyone have anything to comment? 8-)

P.S. Since I'm thanking everyone and saying good job to everyone I have to give a round of applause to the Bowl crew for making this year by far one of the best yet. With it's up's and down's it was by far a vary entertaining year.

"But now they go from 50 to 25 laps and the bowl adds on a Outlaw Race. Dose anyone see a problem here?"

No, I don't see a problem. The bowl had some people interested in running their cars that don't conform to Speedbowl rules. A bunch of mini drivers have said they won't be running the finale, soooo, the track takes action. They ADD races and 2 "divisions" and you are upset. Sorry, but the bowl doesn't do things based on what you think. The bowl is trying to please most people. Who knows, maybe if they keep trying this "outlaw thing" there will be more showing up, like at Thompson on WS weekend.

I don't think the WHOLE thing has been downgraded at all. I think it still looks GREAT. I like the fact that the bowl is willing to change things at the last minute to try to make a better show for the real fans and not the complaining whiners.

On to your points breakdown minus the bonus...... awesome job. That is really interesting to see. Kieth would still have some work to do, Tim would still mostly be on cruise control, Walt would have more breathing room, and Kenny would have wrapped it up last weekend.

"I have to give a round of applause to the Bowl crew" Yes, absolutely. I would say mostly ups. The infield crew does an awesome job, the officials and management are some of the most dedicated and underappreciated people you will ever know.( and most are still volunteer or very underpaid) They show up every week for the love of the sport, the people, and the Bowl.

"does anyone have anything to comment?" You asked for it  I just hope you respect my counter opinion, and don't scream for this subject to be locked again.

Thanks for the "Championship wrap up". Nice work.

I will say this much, while the bowl does alot of bone headed things that aggrivate me,they also do alot of good things that please me. Most of what they do or try is in effort to make things better. Doesnt always go the right direction, but the effort is there and thats what counts. They are not content with just getting by like another ct track we have. Can anyone guess which one i mean?

I felt from the begining this no points thing would hurt car counts for the weekend so we will see what the turnout is. Hopefuly im wrong and the cars will be there. The world series is no points and most of they're track champs dont even show up to race. Time will tell.

I do agree 100% with the schedule issues. It really is not that hard to have a complete schedule in place before the season begins. I skipped several shows i most likely would have went to because they were in TBA for too long. Didnt want to hope for a good show so i went elsewhere. If the schedule was complete to begin with i would not have had to guess.

I just hope they run SK's before the crap act series so i can get the heck outa there early. I like the ACT cars but cant stand the series. wishfull hoping though as im sure sk's will be last because they know the place will be empty as soon as the bud 150 is over. Only way to keep peeps in the seats for this one is to run em last

Steve I respect you're input. Along side that you respect mine. I'm happy that you are defending the bowl, someone has to right? It just bugs me that all year long this was on the schedule SK 150, ACT 150 SS 50 and MS 50. Then two weeks from the race it's changed. You said that some drivers are not thinking of running and some outsiders are thinking of running at the bowl. So like it says on the schedule Outlaw Mini Stocks. Why did they have to take away 25 laps? I'm going on a hunch now since you told me some Mini Stock drivers will not compete, what will the Street Stock race look like? What about the SK's?

The only problem I have with the Outlaw race was that it was just put in the schedule. It was just announced 11 days before the event. I just don't think not many cars and teams are going to show up. Sure the Outlaw division started off strong when it was first announced a while ago but then the bowl tried to put it on the schedule having about 5 to 8 dates. When no one came for the first event and no one came for the 2nd they scraped the hole thing from the schedule. As a bowl Fan I have the right to worry and complane. I just really wish they did not tamper with the schedule, and just see what would of happened.

LovtheMods I want them to race the SK 150 last  Get the ACT 150 done first and out of the way.

Who is ready for some lunch, I am!

I dont think you need to worry there Paul. They would be foolish to run the SK's in any slot other than last. Allthough i am now past the being shocked at things, that one would really boggle my brain....

Just a few quick thoughts:

Would much rather see the Outlaw Mini Race on Sunday then the Legends Car race. With all due respect to the LC teams, Sidney the Grandstand Fan has seen 1 car and 2 drivers dominate the division in the last 2 years and IMO they're least compelling division because of this... how that warrants a bump to the headling Sunday for their Finale event instead of its previous spot on Saturday night is a head-scratcher. On the other hand, I've thought for quite a while that the 'bowl MS teams can hang would any other track's MS'ers... now some teams could potentially be invading our home turf! Like that action... Not the biggest of deals, but that did stand out when I looked at Gino's link.

I do have to say that I'm not a big fan of trying to incorporate TIS WS ideas... don't get me wrong, I freakin' love the 'bowl, but there's no way in hell the 'bowl could ever have an event like the World Series... it's just logistically impossible, the place is too small - both parking, pits & camping - and that'll effect how many people come from far away. I got no beef with mixing up the Finale format, but let's not forget teams were pitting near Harvey Windows entrance during the opener this year... the World Series cannot be duplicated at the 'bowl nor should most comparible ideas to the WS be attempted... but that's just me.

I gotta tell ya, I wasn't thrilled hearing of the Finale event being non-points this year (save for the LM cuz I do like the ACT Tour there for that weekend) and mostly cuz it screwed the built-in Championship storylines for our Finale DVD projects, but I do realize the 'bowl shouldn't make decisions based on Vault stuff, so.... I'm going wait n' see on this one. There seems to be alot of hope that outta-towners will be showing up in the Outlaw races, Open Comp SS and SK 150 races. Let's just hope that's the case... Remember the Enduros idea... Loved it going in, but when neither the 8 or 4-cyl enduro fields could reach the 15-car count, then it wasn't so great.

But I love the effort here by the BOD this year's schedule - not afraid to mix it up, try new things, see how it goes... Not everything's going to work, but creative ideas are still being implemented... and that's a good thing for sure.

Gotta get back to Vault Report duties, but had to chime in...
Peace

Another possible glitch in the armor could be that seekonk's finale is also the same weekend, boasting several open comp races plus the MRS in a tight points battle. Maybe wont hurt em that much IDK but it sure wont help any. That is 1 area that TIS and stafford both seem to be on top of. Both of they're final weekend events are held on an off weekend for other area tracks. Much better chance for a good turn out when both fans and teams alike have no other choice of where to go. I can see how its hard to avoid though cause the 2 big boppers have the 2 premium weekends pretty much locked in every year.
