Happy 4th to all the fine peeps out there. So how was last nights show? I took a ride out to Manadnock, been wanting to check it out for sometime now so i jumped in truck and away i went. Pretty cool lil track...FAST place for the modifieds. Arrived 1 1/2 hrs early and was allready hard to find a seat, place was jam packed. Good hard racin with very little wrecks, was a fun time. For any others that enjoy checking out different tracks I would recomend making the drive for the mod tour race. The racin series put on a good show so the tour will sure provide the same action. Great place for familes as there no alcohol allowed in grandstands at all,but they have a section with a bar/concesion area with picnic tables right on top of track to drink, watch and chit chat while keeping the grandstand area 100% booze free. I liked that. There were 33 Mods in the house and Mad Max Zacham made a veteran move in the consi to make the field. Way to go Kiddo stayed outa trouble all night and finished the race. Max is gonna be a good driver, He improves everytime i see him run that 79 modifed. very easy on the wallet too. 7 bucks got me a big fat cheesburger, a big ole pile of good hot fries and a ice cold pepsi. Cost a bit on gas but you can fill up there for like 2.60/gal so all in all not to bad. Kirk Alexander won the race and hope everyone enjoyed they're sat night racing where ever they may have been and safe and happy 4th to all.

Didn't go either, then I look at the results to see Tucker Reynolds came back to the mods!

i think last nite was not worth 25 bucks wish they would have done redraws for the top 5 or top 10 like they used to. To me it was almost as boring as the trailer race tonite. i think it is very nice of the track to give people a free pass for a regular saturday because of how bad this "eve of destruction" was. it was more like the eve of non destruction.

I agree with Turn1fan, the no-redraw decision gets a huge thumbs down from me! 4 of the races didn't have a single lead change. Snooze city!! With drivers like Coates, Flannery and Rocco having dominate seasons in their respective divisions, I don't see how you wouldn't do redraws, but I'm just a paper peddler, what do I know? ;)

I agree,I never liked it when the faster car or the points leader starts up front.I also thought those were the most boring races this year.Bring back the old handicap system.I can understand why drivers and car owners may like time-trialing once in-a-while,but doing the whole card on one night is also boring for the fans

Sounds like i made the right decision skipping out. I cant stand time trials let alone every division. If they wanna do 1 per week thats fine but 2 hrs of trials was a lil too much for me to sit threw and i dont like goin late for features only. When i buy a ticket i want to see the whole show and enjoy myself. May make the trek again to manadnock and check out a reg night. Place was pretty cool. Need to find somthing to do with no bowl this week. Either back to manadnock, seekonk or down to jersey to watch the dirt cars at new egypt. Long time since i been to a dirt track. Will see where my lil blue truck takes me.....

I'll admit time trials are boring, but I don't mind them all lumped in one show - it's been the tradition for over a decade for the 300. Each division gets a shot at the time trial record (which nobody broke this year - first time since I've been doing the Vault that not one division's record fell). And I like getting them all outta the way in one shot. Think of it this way, we don't have to see them again for the rest of the year...

I was in the pits, so not sure how it was presented to those watching in the stands, but time trials can be a good way to promote teams and their sponsors with isolated time on the track.

They should build some dramatics too and have the faster cars time trial last, like they did in the mods with Keith (point leader) & Janovic (former record holder) running last. But Flannery going first in the LC time trials?? (at least he's the car I saw lined up first in the pits) Where's the drama in that? What minimal excitement there is of having fast times beat along the way during time-trials is gone when the faster cars go first. I believe the order they time-trialed was determined via draw, which I guess is the fairest way - but sometimes fair is awfully boring!

My beef isn't with the time trials themselves, it was lack of a redraw. I watch short-track racing to see cars pass each other for the lead numerous times, especially at a 2-groove track like the bowl. If there was a redraw, there would have been a better oppurtunity for that. It wouldn't have been guaranteed, but the possibility would have been greater.

And yes, for those of you who stayed for the Legends race, Flannery spun early and had to come through the field to win... but in the LC's case this year where there seems to be the least amount of competitive balance, I'm not sure the dominant car spinning early and coming thru the field to still win in basically a regular-distanced event is a good thing.

After viewing the raw footage, my frustrations will be evident through my commentary in the upcoming webisodes...
I'll keep you posted when they're ready...

yea i got no prob with them doin the time trial thing for a night, just not an even i wish to attend is all and with no re-draw i am glad i went elsewhere this week. Bowl will always be my home but sometimes a change of pace and checkin out new places is nice. Even when i go to a tour race i dont watch em, i either get food or wander the midway or what not. Just dont like em.

Sid,

the tt line up was determined by a draw. if it were up to each competitor, they would all go last. first out usually sucks.
