An update about the MRS problem. On the MRS website the Speedbowl 2nd date has been placed on August 13th. That would leave ISMA to change there date as well. Moving it from the 20th to the 13th. NEMA has not put out there 2011 schedule so I don't know what they have planed.

What im about to say may not fly with some and wont ever happen anyway but beep it here is another thought.

Cut down on the high price special events, even though they draw the best crowds of the year. Take the money they dont spend on tourning series and bump up the payout for the weekly teams that keep the place going. More teams would race the bowl if they out paid the other 2 tracks. yea yea i know its money and they dont have or want to spend it vut creating a better weekly product would go alot farther than a few good crowds a year. Run MRS twice and ISMA twice and thats it,put the focus more on supporting the struggling loyal race teams that are they're every week.

Pro 4's, Nema,ALS,trucks and all the low count series, why not run em on wed nights? It would help to make wed's better and inthe process give the wed crowd a smaple of a sat night has to offer and some will say nahh not for me but some will say hey lets go check out a sat night. Its all about supporting the teams spending dollars to race and giving fans a good product to spend money to watch.

PS to shadow yea i know the parking lot parties are not in the tracks control,im just sayin that one of my fondest memories of the old days occured in the parking lot. When on track rivals would gather and have few and it was fun. Did have a few altercations though so maybe its good in a way its not allowed anymore.....

Because everybody was wrecked by that time, money that the teams had was gone being it was the last show of the year, and third seems like everyone that did race got wrecked anyway because of stupid driving.

We probably had more fun at the beaches and beach bars from Sound View to Misquamicut than anything that occurred on the parking lot!

Pro-4 Mod's 2011 schedule has been released. Some of the dates are still TBA. They will be at the Bowl two times. April 2 and August 13th. Stafford June 28th. Thompson October 15th.

Is it official that they got rid of the trucks completely? If so then that's a shame. The car numbers were low but just to throw them away after 2 years seems a bit sad. I'd thought that they would at lest race them for a few races at the bowl and have a combine race with the NETS. Oh well looks like we will have to wait in till the 2011 Schedule comes out.

They tried a "combine" race last season...didn't help at all. Official?.... I would say no rules, no meetings, and being told there will not be a speedbowl truck division next season, is about as official as there is. I like the division, but don't think it's a shame at all. The Speedbowl did what was right. They consistantly had less than 10 trucks, and had notice of 3-4 of those trucks being sold prior to this season with no interest from anyone to run those trucks in the Speedbowl division. So rather than wait til they had a division race with 5 trucks, the Speedbowl cut the ties for their own division, and attained dates for a touring division to help fill the gaps and help the racers who did want to continue in a truck bodied division. Now, we all hope for the sake of NETS, that their truck count will prosper with the help of this move. Would hate to see what happened last season at Thompson be repeated. A touring truck division shows up for a "premier" event with 5 trucks? 4 finish the "race". not good.

Steve, there is way more behind the scenes to the story regarding the trucks but I'm not going to post the info here. I suggest you give either me, Howard Payne, or Doug Dunleavy a call for some insite.

The Speedbowl as I have said many times before................ is extremely hard on the one time racer trying to take a shot at the big purse or elusive first time win. It is a TRUE saturday night style race track that you chassis guys could learn alot from. Its a very fast short track that has even the finest engine builder constantly looking for the right stuff to pump into those $18,000.00 Sk engines (am I close?). It also has something that quite a few short tracks do not have now a days and that is the so-called "family" atmosphere that competes there every week when they too could go somewhere else. I myself drive over 12,000 miles a year and go there now around 3 times a week because of the competition, the friends that I have made, and NOT just for the photos.......... Are their issues hanging over the place?.... no one has denied that as yet but the place continues to survive. Are their other facilities running similar programs or copying ours with similar issues, you bet there are........ i.e., do your research. So as not to continue my babbling I will quote a t-shirt often seen at the Bowl..... "Run your car / not your mouth"... AND remember you as a fan, a competitor, or undecided type can either be the solution to an issue OR YOU ARE part of the problem. Speak-up...... dialogue is good.

Well put rant Race Dog :D

--------------------------------------
Local Thoughts
--------------------------------------

First thing on my mind is that I was surprised that bowl will have SK-Lights on the schedule this year teaming up with the X-Mods. But will that truly help car numbers and will they run on Wednesdays or Saturdays? I don't know I guess things will tell over time. But it sure does sound exciting. Now Victoria Bergenty can race at the bowl with out crashing 20 times with the big SK's. Lol Just Kidding. All in good fun.

I was thinking and looking some stuff up. It looks like the Bowls last race weekend is the same weekend as Seekonk. But I have an idea I'm not to sure if you all will agree but it could be away to bring more peeps into the track without going head to head with other tracks. Instead of Waterford going head to head with seekonk. Why not push the final race forward a few weeks ware they would have a open week for them self's? Between the few extra weeks they can put in a regular racing program, take a week off. And on the new final date get a few more touring races to jam pack the finally. I know it will make the season longer but this could be a way to help bring in the people and pack the place. this is an idea to help the bowl pack in the fans. what do you all think?

September -Monadnock, Beech Ridge and Riverhead (Final)
October 1-2 Stafford (Final)
October 8-9 Seekonk (Final) (Waterford Date)
October 15-16 Thompson (Final)
October 22-23 Lee (Final)
October 29-30 or November 5-6 Waterford (could be new final date)
November (TBA) Wall Stadium (Turkey Derby)

National Thoughts
-----------------------

Also anyone else thanking the auto racing gods now that the new rule for the top three NASCAR series. You can only make points for one series. So no longer will we see a Sprint Cup driver win the Nationwide tittle. It looks like they can race for Money. Even win a race. But they will not get credited points for it. I Think it's about d@#$ time. Now I can watch the Nationwide race without being bored.

Hey it seems that the Toyota All-Star Showdown will bring some short track excitement. No it's not the Mods. For the Late Models and the Super Late Models whoever does not Qualify in the top 15. The rest will have to race in a heat race to make the show.

I thought Robby Gordon could win the Dakar Rally this year. To bad he was DQ on stage 4 for not starting the race on time. Mark Miller (USA) in the cars is 6th overall with 3 hours behind. For the bikes Cody (USA) Is 10th 2 hours behind and Street (USA) 14th 3 hours behind overall. After stage 7. Few more stages to go before it's over.

That's all for me, what do you all think? Agree or disagree that cool.
