I know how Sidney loves the quotes so i'm gonna quote bomb the you know what out of this. Please do not have an aneurysm Tommy boy.

I'm not gonna go all disagree with you because the race sucked. i'm just going to give you some points on why some feel the way they do.

Alright, I gotta chime in here - this whole autograph thing is cranking me up. I was around Myers pit all night like a wannabe papparazzi and the BOD (minus Tommy who had his own issues on the track) and there was never a plan for autographs. Never. They mentioned maybe... maybe if the night went well and he was up for it afterwards they'd approach him, but as we all know, the night went anything but well. I'm with Steve, that whole thing was a total telephone-game deal. I'm thinking the track got wind of people misinterpreting the set-up for Myers' merchandise and made the announcement so it was clear there wasn't an autograph session. Funny how that turns into them cancelling it with no explanation! Ay-yi-yi
I know there wasn't an autograph session and some people probably didn't think about he was only here in the first place to race at Thompson... but it strikes me as rather odd that there wasn't an autograph session planned. With the floating sched the track has been keeping on Saturday I wondered why the SK race was moved foward in the first place.

The whole night sucked, but I'm boggled by all these different scenarios suggested as to how it's the track's fault?
No one really said it was the tracks fault, they just didn't help matters or aren't lacking blame here also.

The night didn't suck because the track let the wrong people start up front
I know with you little things that are problems become no problem at all but seriously??? The track relaxed it's own unwritten rule about starting spots and handicap. It's worked out OK but with the same end result two weeks in a row now.

or because they didn't handle single-file restart options correctly
First, after 4 cautions that would have been pretty simple cautions if it wasn't for track conditions, it's not time to go single file.
In the drivers meeting it was discussed where the restart box was. The leader drove through the whole restart box. In my thinking when the leader reaches the last line of the box the green MUST come out. I think it was pretty clear the leader wasn't aware where the box ended or which lines are which and with the slow paced restart it just created more of a mess/another caution and cleanup.
my fix. lets get rid of all these lines, different boxes for initial green and restarts, stick to one simple box and be done with it.

The track did their part.
Yes they did, and so did the competitors the week before while they raced the fastest weekly division cars with slicks on them through puddles on the track. If we are in a business of racing it doesn't mean we only want everything to work one way here.

The track provided the fans with a celebrity-type competitor to watch and provided the SK Modified division the oppurtunity to race with one of the most recognizable faces in modified racing across the country
I loved the idea of the promotion and my thniking was this guy was going to show up and race hard and get a top 5ish finish and all would be good. The back of my mind told me this guy was a flake who collected a paycheck, drove someone elses car and wouldn't give two rats butts for what happened.
This wasn't Tim Richmond at Stafford or Tony Stewart at Thompson in a SK. This was Burt Meyers. This is a guy who might have a bad word about the bowl and in interviews told some far fetched story about what happened out there. First he was pushed from behind into wrecking racecars, then somebody ran over his LF. Watch the vid on JP.com about 30 seconds in. He made a huge mistake or intentionally wrecked a bunch of racecars, collected a decent payday and went on his way.

and yeah, Ronnie and Tyler and Gaydosh and a couple others managed to stay clean and finish - big woop.
Big woop????

For 13 laps?? Staying clean for 13 laps?? really?? That's the best we could show on a big stage? a handful of our weekly guys could stay clean for 13 laps??? who cares??
Big stage is debatable, and those guys and more did a good job. I don't care if the feature was 5 laps. They all kept clean, even cut each other breaks and went on their way. They didn't choose for the feature to end 13 laps in. That was chosen for them.
I mean big woop?? Who cares??? Maybe the people dumping their money, their time, their life care to see the pay off with some smart driving, that's who might care. I see you posted elsewhere that this feature shouldn't count.... I know the work involved in those top 3 cars, the tire money, the fuel money, the pit fees, the work and the sponsors behind them all count. But, who cares, right?
I'm tired of hearing the BS from people thinking this night shouldn't count that A. had a bad night, that's luck. B. spun and wrecked themselves more then once. I hope the whole field gets to call a mulligan on the night things just don't go their way.

One of my issues with the track....it's even an issue of why some of my family will never go to the Speedbowl again is those puddles. I know there is alot of work pumping the infield but week after week of them grows thin. this has been happening for more then 10 years and the fix doesn't seem anywhere in sight. I know the water table is high, I know it rained. I'd like to see a effort put into doing something about it. Without the puddles near the racing surface this weeks happenings just look bad and not terrible.
I'm not an engineer here but I'd think some fill to bank the infield off the track and keep water at least some distance from the racing surface would help. I think the old gravel/sand/sawdust/wood chips mix idea would help some if they applied it to areas with standing water on Firdays. I think it's worth more of a shot then drying these puddles out by allowing racecars to spread their fill all over the racing surface.
My next issue is spotting. If you wanna place some blame on the drivers some of it just might be on the other end of the radio also. After watching two different vids of the race, i'm left scratching my head if half these spotters are really doing anything and if they are if the drivers can hear them and just do what they want anyway. I seen wrecks happen because people just pull out of line with someone under them, I don't mean a trying to get down shoot there is someone with the RF in there. i'm talking guys trying to miss wrecks that happened well in front of them, the cars in the middle of it checked up and drove through and one guy just moves down and sends the inside car through the infield. I'm talking someone gets into the fence, cars bounce off each other and the guys involved keep going but the guy well back in the field piles into someone. I'm not sure if alot of spotters up there are just staring at the car, aren't on top of their game or the drivers just don't care.
It's a great idea to move the spotters to the new area, Shadow is doing a great job with the whole deal. My issue/thinking here is maybe they just need to move it back to the pits, as bad as that sounds. Spotting is the second toughest job going on out there but teams are relying on having bodies in the pits and pushing radios off on people that might not want to be up there.
