Well i find it funny that every forcast i read said only a few daytime showers for the S.E corner with the heavy stuff stayin in the northern and western parts of the state which is what happened. They added this event and should have waited longer to pull it or just have taken the whole night off from the get go which to me would have made even more sense. I want the place to live as well but yes a i find a little ironic humor in this weekend. And i know alot of others agree and just dont reply on here. Some will totaly dissagree, thats the beauty of opinions.
I actualy ran into 3 people today that go to these type of events and and 3 said laughing i dont get it.
Just because one finds harmless humor in a situation does not mean laughter at others misfortune. Have you never looked at a negitive common occurance and just shook your head and laughed?

so let's see, the Speedbowl would have had 4 people show up and sit in the rain. last year they ran a regular night of racing, and from what I remember, there were a few hundred fans in the stands because of sailfest. I am as die hard as they come, and I would NOT have sat in the rain to watch an enduro race. the only reason I left my house and drove 3.5 hours roundtrip was for one simple reason, I work there. to expect the employees to work in the rain is extremely selfish, to expect the racers to run in the rain is moronic. every racer has the responsibility to ensure their own safety. what would you "the fan" have said if Terry didnt cancel they show and 10-15 total cars showed up because they thought it would have been a bad idea to race? you would have been calling for his head. "this is BS, we paid and the show sucked" or "we paid and sat in the pouring rain to see 8 car enduros?" stop being selfish and see it from the BUSINESS owners perspective. his job is to make money, not lose money. then after you leave, you go home and start complaining on this here message board. oh wait...you're doing that anyway.

The Speedbowl helped the local community by shutting down Saturday. I know a lot of people that just went to Sailfest in New London to spend their money and have a good time - Beautiful fireworks and all for no extra charge!!!!

:D

I think it was smart to postpone the event. Beyond the weather, I wonder just how many people had cars that they planned to run? The extra time will hopefully help car count. I know it gets me thinking about putting something together. I'd love to see (or compete in) an enduro like we had back in the 80's. I remember seeing 110 cars lined up 3 wide around almost the whole track! The only thing that would red flag the race was if there was a fire. As a spectator back then it was well worth the price of admission. Amazing race! Hopefully, the missing X and Super X cars that were out there on Wednesdays in years past, and are sitting out there somewhere, will find their way back to the track for the rescheduled 100 lap Enduro. It's probably the most cost effective way to get a car ready. From what I understand, minor things need changing on those car to run. Anyway, I hope this event ends up being a successfull one for the Speedbowl.

Double edge sword. Many ways too look at it but if they were concerned about car counts and spectaters they should have added this show. Flip side is they did add it knowing all of the possible issues and should have gave it more a chance to run. They are under such a big microscope now with everyone critisizing every little thing that goes wrong. To me should have just closed the gates for this night from the get go and give everyone an advertised night off. Everyone could have enjoyed the night in there own way. I really do beleive that most of the complaining is people venting out because they just want the place to make it. People may get sick of reading whiny cryin bit**y posts but complaints do represent 1 thing if nothing else. Speedbowl fans care about the place. If nobody was complaining that would tell me that people threw in the towel and said i just dont care anymore.

They are doing better than thompson thats for sure. At least they put forth the effort and are aware of the current racin economy. Thompson had 14 sks last week and they say they are perplexed as to why? Ummm maybe it is because they pay jack stinky stuff and guys are sick of gettin wrecked and watchin the guy that wrecked them drive on to a top 3 finish. At least the bowl doesnt pretend to be clueless idiots. The bowl may miss a call here and there...it happens. thompson just closes there eyes and says what? i didnt see anything. There will come a day when the bowl will prosper from all these complaints and the effort put in to make them go away. And what a day that will be

Everyone's entitled to their opinions, but seriously... who cares??

If they ran the event and nobody came or the car count was down, people would b*tch
They called it and it didn't really rain, and people are b*tching

Who cares? It's over with... not a big deal. Chalk up to the "can't please everyone" theory.

Speaking of which - could you imagine if it was the Speedbowl and not Thompson who provided less-than-full fields for the NWAAS this season?? Imagine the yappin' if that was the case:

"Why does Rocco even run the 'bowl - real racing happens at SMS and TIS anyway. Waterford shouldn't even be a NASCAR track if it can't get full fields!!" . Funny how TIS is strugglin' with cars and they don't get the same heat... They don't have a forum dedicated to their track and that probably helps limited the yappin, but just a hypothetical to show the 'bowl will always have the most bashers no matter what the topic is...

LuvtheMods is right that people don't b*tch if they don't care, but sometimes it's just annoying. We in CT have 3 local short tracks that provide racing on 3 different nights all within an hour of each other - there's not many places in the country that can offer that. More regions than not, you'd have to drive hours just to see one night of racing. When you take it in perspective, debating whether an Enduro was ppd from weather that never came just seems stewpid...

I'm just sayin...

(vent over, thanks for having me :D )

Serious question for you, is Wall Speedway still open?
