Well I'll start us off. I got out of work early for I can get into the pit's. And hell it was worth the 40$ It was not 50 like most big events so it was just. I'll shell out 40$ to talk to the drivers, crews and friends at the track. It was hot but if you found the right shade it was okay. Their is so much I could talk about but I'll point out a few things. ;)

Get rid of the BL. They have good races but for a big event like the 300 they should have never been at the track or the racing card. I think next year that the BL should stay off the Saturday schedule, only to be on for the "Start", "Finish" and "Thunder on the sound" They need to stay on Wednesdays. until they pull in bigger numbers. The LC had more cars then SK mods. That's good but I just feel they were out of place for an event like this. I don't mind seeing them back. I just wish they would not crash every lap.

The MS and SS race was good. The LM are getting more cars each week. As drivers form Seekonk are now taking their hand at the bowl. The SK race was awesome. Rocco sure holds downs the long distance races. I talked to TC in the pits. He said he will be back at the bowl this month. The 23rd. I don't know if it will be in the #14 or the #13. I talked to Tyler and Joe after the race. Both cars were not ready in till 10 AM that morning. Good job for both teams. The cars sure did look good. :D

I've been thinking. Just an idea and I told Scott this at the track. Any idea that could help bring in more peeps to the bowl is always a good idea right? Get rid of the LC and BL and give back the LM the 100 Laps. Or bring in a "Open Mod Tour Type Cars." For 50 Laps, Who knows it might work and the word going around of big name drivers on a early entry list could bring in a lot of people. IDK it's just a idea that was floating in my head.

So with Saturday off. What will you all do?
Me? I got to work on my car. I need new back brakes. Oil change, Clean the inside and outside and buffer my headlights and more.

PS. I hope everyone had a happy July 4th.

I have some ideas to throw out there...start a 5 and make saturday a 350..SK 100, LM 100, SS 50, MS 50 and LC 50. If I'm paying good money to sit in the stands I want to see great racing.. SK are always exciting, the LM have been growing in #'s and put on the best side by side racing all year long, SS have Meyers, Stone and Puelo racing hard and the MS have Cassidy, Brew and Colvin racing hard.
I hope this gets the ball rolling...

Did TC miss the set up for the time trials or did he want to start in the back?

Oilforblood, sorry to make you name drop a ton, it's just that oldschool mentioned the heavy hitters in those divisions and left out some big dogs. Hell, Galvins one of the reasons I love stricktlys and Williams and Evans help keep the minis fun. Boo to the week off!

turn1fencefan: I could be wrong but that #13 SK was TC's Stafford car. And to get a 1/2 track car set up for a 1/3-3/8 kind of track took them some time to get how TC wanted it.

Gob: I agree "boo" on the week off. But I don't think teams or fans that have to travel a long distance wont mind one week off. Saving money is always a good thing. And I don't mind keeping that 30-50$ in my pocket this week.

OldSchool: I like your idea. Any idea that you all have just spit it out. Any idea could help the bowl. What they need to bring back next year is the double SK race. And set it for 15$ An just let the peeps come out. That was the biggest crowed and car count all year long.

Decent night Im with Paul on the bandit leros stick to wednesday. I heard from a guy sittin near me it was a national qualifying race for legends so thats prolly the reason for the high count, but he could have been wrong i have no clue but was told that it was. Im just glad they DQ'ed that white car, damn he just flat out wrecked that kid in 48.

Yes Paul that was TC's stafford car and while none of this is fact i beleive his whole night was planned. He was riding around in back and soon as the leaders got close he suddenly picked it up a notch. Quick cautiong and he started picking em off. 1 more timely yellow and that race would have gotten very interesting cause he was coming.

As for a scheduled double Sk race i seriously doubt they will do that and if they do im sure they would jack it up to 20 being scheduled rather than a make up. Tour-types while i would love to see them added, that is scary risk. You got Manadknock, and star speedway both run tour-types on sat weekly, plus alot of MRS and tour races are on a sat so it would be hard to get a quality field unless they pay big to get the cars, which they wont do. I had fun but am glad its over,i cant stand time trials. I really wish they would change that to each division does time once a year, but on seperate nights. sk's can do time and get outside intro's 1 week and late models another week and so on. Every division on 1 night is just way too boring.

Haven't been out in G2 land in a while, but wanted to chime in after seeing this thread:

I agree, I could go without the Bandoleros at the 300. But, I think what you guys are missing (or at least I don't see it mentioned yet) is that having the Bandos there means more $$ thru the back gate, and that's the key.

It's also why you'd never see Twin SK's for $15 - yeah, the crowd was good, but the track would have to pay double purse with no real extra $$ coming through the back gate. I agree the Twin SK's was a great show with a great crowd, but the track already made back-gate $$ the night they were originally rained out.

I'm good with LM's at 50 laps. If the count was ever closer to 20 cars on a consistent basis, maybe.... but I'm good with them at 50 for now.

As for Tour Mods - I'll see LuvtheMods' nugget about Star & Monadnock running on Sat's, and raise him the fact that Riverhead does as well. I don't think they'd draw the cars and IMO is just too risky. Wings N' Wheels is the Speedbowl's big event and, at least for now, I'd leave it that way.

I agree Time Trials are a snooze fest, but i'd rather get them all outta the way one time then have to sit through them individually throughout the season.... no big deal either way, just my preference.

I like the name dropping... I think there's even more not mentioned who've put on a show, and that's a good thing. I wish more people watched our videos, the racing at the Speedbowl is just so awesome. I like Buckler "Side by Side Capital of the Northeast" title for the 'bowl - couldn't agree more.

Lastly, I think the Speedbowl does the right thing with taking this week off. That last few years they did it on Sailfest weekend the crowd was miniscule... totally not worth it, especially these days when $$ is still tight for everyone. Plus, it's a good break for the raceteams. Don't forget, the Speedbowl has the longest schedule of the 3 tracks - it's the first to open, and only the TIS World Series is left after the Speedbowl Finale... that's a long, hard-working, expensive commitment by the weekly competitors, I think it's good to give them a week off during the middle of the summer to spend sometime elsewhere.

amen Sid. I totally enjoy the week off. last year it rained out the planned Enduro and the 2 years prior that I remember were horrible front gates. I know of more than a few racers who took a vacation this week as well.
