I wonder why the speedbowl doesn't have practice a week before opening weekend. Seems like just having practice on the friday of opening weekend and saturday morning doesn't give drivers much chance to work things out if there's a problem with the car.

I would guess it is because of unpredictable weather. It opens early as it is and snow/rain/sleet would be a possibility even on opening day, but a week earlier.....that would be pushing it....just a guess.

Plus, I know the weather held everything up a bit this year and last year we were working up to the last minute to be ready for opening day.....every minute is needed, so a week earlier would be about impossible, especially this year. IMO.

Thompson has on open practice day for march 26th as well, just a guess on my part too but maybe the figure teams can go there to work out any bugs and be ready to focus on race practice come blast off. That an having the track ready for the real deal should be the priority. All of the above and then some probably.

5 Hours of practice on Friday and 3 rounds of practice on Saturday i would think would be enough practice most teams that attend practice on Friday do not even use the entire 5 hours usually the last 2 hours the count starts to dwindle...

There a probably a number of reasons the bowl doesn't offer the two weeks of practice or even one, weather, track being ready all the way to requiring to have to have an insurance policy start earlier, staffing and all the little things. I wouldn't think it would be financially practical for the turnouts they got the last few years of open practice the weeks before the season.

Awww man. Well now I can take the 20$ and put it to a 50$ ticket this Saturday and Sunday. Boy it's going to be a long....long weekend. That means I can still get my pictures taken during practice. Just one question. Is everyone ready for an exciting 27 week adventure? I know I am. 8-) :D
