Everything has to change. It's an inevitable and very necessary part of life. The cars have changed so much over the years that it's difficult to get up to speed with today's when you've been away so long. The differences between the old and the new is a story of great improvements in technology and, especially, safety features. Bobby Unser was asked what there is about today's cars he would have liked to have had in his racing days. He said, "Everything! I'd like to have had everything." I readily confess that today's cars are infinitely better than the ones I was used to. I guess the only advantage of the C and C era (to me) was the uniqueness of the modifieds, sportsmen, non-Fords, bombers, etc. As I said, life changes. I will always prefer the coupes and coaches of the 50s through the late 70s. The past is PAST. You can't go back but you can treasure the memories and I do. I remember Bob Potter's very first years at the Speed Bowl. He did very well in the Bombers - I think his first car was #18. Bob Savard drove the 761, Ed Gladue the 76 - a Bill Congdon look-alike model, and there was Bill Trask's 353. These were all Bombers, well-built cars and good drivers - Newt Palm, Dick Dunn, Ed Moody were three of them. The original L&M was one of the most innovative cars in Speedbowl history. No doubt it would still give today's cars a good run.

I've always said, if I ever ran an SK, I'd go find a crashed Cavalier or somethin, and use the stock sheetmetal from the A-Pillars back as the body.

Cavaliers are cheap, haha. Either re-skin it with a new body, or hammer the old one out.
